The Atelier

No fluorescent lights. No small talk if you don't want it.

Violette is the quiet alternative to a busy Subiaco salon. Founded in 2015 by Claire Vincent after twelve years in Balmain and Perth city salons, Violette strips away the fluorescent lighting and the waiting room and gives you one stylist, three hours, and your own mirror. We arrive with a professional basin, salon-grade colour, dust sheets and a bluetooth speaker you can queue. You keep your schedule. Your toddler keeps their nap.

Claire saved my wedding. My original stylist cancelled four days out and Violette took the full bridal party of five at 5am in my Peppermint Grove Airbnb. Professional, calm, and the hair held up through a cyclone-level January reception.

I had boxed-dye my hair into oblivion trying to go blonde at home. Claire did a three-hour colour correction on my kitchen stool while my baby slept upstairs. No judgement, no lectures, and my hair looks like I never touched it. Weekly blowdrys booked through June.

I'm 79 and hate leaving the house for appointments. My daughter found Violette online and now Claire comes every fortnight. She is patient, the cut is better than any salon I went to in the city, and she brings me a flat white. Perfection.

FAQ

Everything to know before you book.

What do I need to have at home?

+

Honestly, very little. A hard floor (kitchen or laundry is ideal), a power point, and a chair with no arms. I bring the portable basin, towels, cape, dust sheets, products and a professional mirror. If you don't have a hard floor, I bring a drop sheet. Colour clients, please set aside a little more space — about a 2m x 2m area works.

Do you do colour corrections?

+

Yes, and probably more than any other service I do. Box-dye fixes, brassy blondes, black-to-blonde, the lot. All corrections begin with a free 15-minute strand test booked in advance — some require multiple sessions to protect the integrity of the hair. I use Olaplex on every chemical service as standard.

How does bridal trial & day-of work?

+

Bridal trials are typically scheduled 4–6 weeks before the wedding, in your home, for 90 minutes. We try two or three looks, photograph what works, and lock in timings for the day. Day-of, I arrive with a full bridal kit and can style the bride plus four bridesmaids on location. Early starts (pre-6am) and regional venues are both welcome.

Are there travel fees?

+

Travel is included within Claremont, Cottesloe, Mosman Park, Nedlands, Dalkeith, Peppermint Grove and Subiaco. Outside the western suburbs I charge a flat $25 travel fee within 20km of Claremont, and $1.10/km beyond that. Regional bridal bookings are quoted individually.
